During his studies, Håvard worked in the Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway as a consultant, where he worked with formal requirements for the duty of disclosure for companies bound by the Securities Trading Act, in addition to necessary authorizations related to the accounting and auditing profession.

Håvard wrote his master's thesis titled "The ownership term in tax law in real estate tax matters – The connection between the ownership term in private law and tax law, and the transition of ownership according to tax law". The thesis concerned the landowner's rights relating to expropriation, including Statnett's right to run power lines over private property, and cases where the landowner is left with the real estate tax invoice.
